Praised for his imagination on sound expressiveness,virtuosity and energy, Mon-Puo was born in Madrid (Spain) in December of 1993.

 

Being a Spanish cellist born into a Taiwanese artistic family. He was a student at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía with Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya and Ivan Monighetti. He is an international competition prizewinning cellist. He had won the First Prize at the VII International Competition Karl Davydov, top prize in the Brahms Competition, first prize in the International Pedro Bote Competition, first prize and the special OSPA prize in the international cello competition of Llanes (Asturias). He was awarded the second prize at the Isang Yun International Cello Competition in Tongyeong (South Korea) in 2015. In April of 2016 he was awarded with the pianist Han Wen Yu as a cello piano duo the first prize in the International Chamber music Bacewicz competition. Later part of the same year, he won first prize at the Berlin Philharmonic Debut Competition, as well as the third prize at the George Enescu Festival Competition in Bucharest (Romania). In 2017, he has won the 29th Chi-Mei Foundation Art Award in Taiwan. 

 

He was part of the Kronberg Academy, Verbier Festival Academy, Internationale Musikakademie in Liechtenstein, and was invited to perform in the Festival "Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn" in France, and Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara "Fundación Monteleón" in Spain.

 

He has collaborated with several orchestras as soloist such as Berliner Symphoniker, George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of Asturias, Symphonic Orchestra of Extremadura, Chamber orchestra of Andrés Segovia, Tonyeong festival Orchestra, Orquesta Clásica a santa Cecilia, Liepaja Amber sound Symphony Orchestra, RCSMM symphony Orchestra, Tres Cantos Symphony Orchestra, Extremadura Symphony Orchestra and so on.

 

He has appeared in major concert venues, such as Berlin Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Athenäum in Bucharest, Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid, Gasteig München, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, and Tong Yeong Concert Hall. In the next season, he could be heard in the Berlin Philharmonie, Taiwan, Macau, Warsaw, Lódz, Paris, London, Chicago and so on.

 

Mon-Puo is now studying with Prof. Jens Peter Maintz at Universität der Künste Berlin. He plays a Cello Made by Contreras (1760) and a bow made by Maire,both loaned generously from the CHIMEI foundation in Taiwan.
